2 days to go!

We are two days out from the wedding and pretty much everything is (finally) under control. There have been a few minor crises, but we have gotten past it all and are still alive.

It's hard to believe that a whole year has passed by already. Seems like only a few weeks ago Beau was proposing to me and we were just moving into our new place. In the last year we got engaged, moved, planned a wedding, saw friends and family get married, sold a house, and are now about to get married and move again.

This afternoon is going to be a whirl-wind between getting ready for bridals, doing bridal, going to dinner with my girls and then my bachelorette party. J is going to disappear up to the Houston auto show, pick up tuxes, have dinner and drinks. Tomorrow is getting ready for the big day, dropping off items at the reception venue and the rehearsal and dinner. Saturday is the big day!

I'll make sure to post lots of pics and tales when we get back from the honeymoon.

Starting the New Year

We rung in the New Year putting on a lock-in for the youth. It was a long night, but a lot of fun. We played a lot of games and talked about the new year. Next year will be better since it won't be a Saturday night to Sunday.

December 30th we were supposed to close on the house. Unfortunately the underwriters didn't get the paperwork together in time. After some discussion, we got it rescheduled for today. J went this afternoon to sign the papers. We are officially house free. Now we can focus on saving money towards a down payment on our next house.

Last week, we were called by the management company for our loft with an interesting request. Our landlord has decided to sell our loft, but wants to keep us as tenants. So we were shown another loft he has that's two blocks away from our current place. It looks like we are probably going to be moving again in March. We will keep everyone posted as it gets closer.

Finally, the wedding plans are still coming along. It's hard to believe that we only have 3 weeks left. The reception is taken care of, the cake and dj are completely paid for. I'm so glad that we've had almost a year to get ready. I don't feel rushed to get last minute things done. It may take some time, but we'll get posts up once we're back from the honeymoon.

Christmas

We celebrated Christmas on the island with my folks. They came down on the afternoon of Christmas Eve. Mom went with me to the early service. We had dinner between services before heading back for the traditional candle light service.

Following in Gilbert family tradition, after service we came home and made strawberry daiquiris. We enjoyed our holiday treat while watching The Holiday. Christmas morning we postponed opening gifts until after Sunday service.

Aunt Sandy came over for dinner in the early afternoon. J and I made crab dip in a bread bowl, prosciutto wrapped scallops and Spanish garlic shrimp. For dessert Mom made a creme brulee cake which was quite yummy. Kyle and Marcy skyped in to have a virtual Christmas after dinner was over. I love that in this day and age we can use technology to cover hundreds of miles.

All in all, I think it was a great Christmas. This was one of the last major events between us and the wedding.
